Warp and Puppet Warp 

(practice image will be distributed in class)

1. Open Photoshop (From your Start Menu > Programs > Adobe CS5)
2. Open your image by going to the File menu and selecting Open.
3. Choose the File and click Open.
4. Make sure the Layers Palette is visible, if not go to Window > Layers

5. With the “Jump” Layer highlighted, use your selection tools (Magnetic Lasso or Quick Selection) to make a selection of one of the arms.
6. Save the selection by going to Select > Save Selection.
      Name it “Arm 1”, Click OK
7. Go to the Edit Menu > Puppet Warp (you should see a change to the selected area)
8. Set the target points by clicking the arm where you want it to bend.
9. After setting the target points, click and pull on the points to make the selected area move.
10. Click the Enter / Return key to commit the change.
11. Deselect the area with CNTRL + D.
12. Erase any unneeded picture information leftover from the arm.

13. With the “Jump” Layer highlighted, use your selection tools (Magnetic Lasso or Quick Selection) to make a selection of the other arm.
14. Save the selection by going to Select > Save Selection.
      Name it “Arm 2”, Click OK
15. Go to the Edit Menu > Puppet Warp (you should see a change to the selected area)
16. Set the target points by clicking the arm where you want it to bend.
17. After setting the target points, click and pull on the points to make the selected area move.
18. Click the Enter / Return key to commit the change
19. Deselect the area with CNTRL + D
20. Erase any unneeded picture information leftover from the arm.

21. With the “Jump” Layer highlighted, use your selection tools (Magnetic Lasso or Quick Selection) to make a selection of one of the legs.
22. Save the selection by going to Select > Save Selection.
      Name it “Leg 1”, Click OK
23. Go to the Edit Menu > Puppet Warp (you should see a change to the selected area)
24. Set the target points by clicking the leg where you want it to bend.
25. After setting the target points, click and pull on the points to make the selected area move.
26. Click the Enter / Return key to commit the change
27. Deselect the area with CNTRL + D
28. Erase any unneeded picture information leftover from the leg.


29. With the “Jump” Layer highlighted, use your selection tools (Magnetic Lasso or Quick Selection) to make a selection of the other leg.
30. Save the selection by going to Select > Save Selection.
      Name it “Leg 2”, Click OK
31. Go to the Edit Menu > Puppet Warp (you should see a change to the selected area)
32. Set the target points by clicking the leg where you want it to bend.
33. After setting the target points, click and pull on the points to make the selected area move.
34. Click the Enter / Return key to commit the change.
35. Deselect the area with CNTRL + D
36. Erase any unneeded picture information leftover from the leg.

37. Make a new empty layer by clicking on the Create new layer button next to the Trash Can.
Make sure this layer is below the “Jump” layer, drag it below if necessary
38. With the new empty layer highlighted, Load the Selection of Arm 1 by going to Select >  Load Selection and choosing Arm 1
39. Fill the selection by going to Edit > Fill > 50% Gray, Click OK
40. With the new empty layer highlighted, Load the Selection of Arm 2 by going to Select >  Load Selection and choosing Arm 2
41. Fill the selection by going to Edit > Fill > 50% Gray, Click OK
42. With same layer highlighted, Load the Selection of Leg 1 by going to Select >  Load Selection and choosing Leg 1
43. Fill the selection by going to Edit > Fill > 50% Gray, Click OK
44. With the new empty layer highlighted, Load the Selection of Leg 2 by going to Select >  Load Selection and choosing Leg 2
45. Fill the selection by going to Edit > Fill > 50% Gray, Click OK
46. Flatten the Layers

47. Make a new empty layer and drag it behind the background layer
48. Fill the new empty layer by going to Edit > Fill > 50% Gray, Click OK
49. Free Transform the Layer with the picture in it to make it smaller and then center it.
50. Click the Warp button and choose Flag in the Warp Drop Down Menu
51. Adjust the image to make the Warp more subtle.
52. Double Click on the Layer with the picture in it to bring up the Layer Styles Menu.
53. Click Drop Shadow. Click OK.
