Converting from Color to Black and White
Converting Color to Black and White in Photoshop
20 minute video that will work for versions CS3-CS5
http://tv.adobe.com/watch/dr-browns-photoshop-laboratory/black-and-white-experiments/
*It is better to start with a
color image so that you can have a larger range of channels to manipulate in
Photoshop
There are many ways to convert
your image and each has slightly different outcomes.
- Desaturate
your image in the Hue/Saturation Adjustments Layer
- Use the Black & White Adjustments Layer (Adjust the sliders for each color channel, use tint, click and drag inside the image to adjust the corresponding channels)
- Create
Effects by dragging a color layer above your black and White Adjustment
Layer and then adjusting the opacity and mode
- Use
the Grayscale Conversion in the Camera Raw Window
(Click Convert to Grayscale and
then adjust the sliders in each color)
