Advanced Photography Assignment: Appropiation

Definition of Appropriation Art:
(noun) - To appropriate is to take possession of something. Appropriation artists deliberately copy images to take possession of them in their art. They are not stealing or plagiarizing. They are not passing off these images as their very own. Not at all. Appropriation artists want the viewer to recognize the images they copy, and they hope that the viewer will bring all of his/her original associations with the image to the artist's new context, be it a painting, a sculpture, a collage, a combine or an entire installation

Advanced Photography Assignment: Gesture

Definition of Gesture

http://csmt.uchicago.edu/glossary2004/gesture2.htm

According to the Oxford Online Dictionary, the noun form of the word, gesture, means a manner of carrying the body; bearing, carriage, deportment. [1] It is also an action performed to convey one’s feelings or intentions or an action performed for show in the knowledge that it will have no effect. The word gesture derives from the Latin word gerere, which means "to do," and the Latin word gestra meaning of action. [2] The verb form of the word means to make or use gestures, to gesticulate.
